Egypt crisis hits holiday bookings
The crisis that is currently affecting the centre of Egypt, mainly Cairo, but also Alexandria, Luxor, Suez and some other major cities, has caused a flurry of cancellations to some Egyptian destinations. One specialist travel company has cancelled no less than five tours so far following the Foreign Office decision to advise British travellers against all but essential travel to large parts of the country.
The main areas which are affected are the popular Nile cruises, excursion to see the pyramids, the Valley of the Kings and the tombs in Luxor, most operators have cancelled all flights to Luxor. It should be stressed that the Red Sea resorts are not in any way affected and the Foreign Office has stated that it is perfectly safe to travel to these resorts, which includes Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Taba, Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Nuweiba. Holiday makers who are planning or have booked holidays at any of these resorts need not be concerned, but they should keep in touch with their travel agent if the situation does not improve or deteriorates in Egypt.
