The slopes are quiet and although they are not as challenging as at other resorts the views are wonderful and some slopes do require more expertise. There is plenty of hearty French Canadian food and whilst the resort’s main hotel is not beautiful it is cosy with large lounge chairs, log fires, a cavernous bar and a well-stocked restaurant.
Apex Ski Resort is located in Okanagan Valley and has 67 downhill ski runs suitable for all levels. In addition there is outdoor ice hockey, a skating loop, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, ice climbing and Tim Horton’s family tube park. Children seven years and under ski free and there are also reduced prices for teenagers.
Sunshine Village is the highest ski resort in the Canadian Rockies and has plenty of natural snow. It has the longest ski season and more lifts than any other resort in the area. Recently the ski school, terrain park and on-site hotel have been improved to make them more appealing to families. The ski school is one of the best and employs over 100 ski instructors. Its family-friendly evening activities include game nights and outdoor activities.
