How long do you need to plan for a holiday? If you are willing to consider last minute cruises you will benefit considerably from booking something not long before you actually set sail. Many people book their cruises a long time in advance. This makes sense because it gives you time to plan your trip. But if you can travel at very short notice – making your booking only a week or two before you travel – you can get last minute cruises at much lower prices than you would normally.
One company recently offered discounts on last minute bookings of between 44% and 82% on the normal price. The main benefit of this is of course getting your holiday a lot cheaper than if you had booked it early. Another benefit is that you might be able to afford to take a cruise you wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. A £1,099 ticket at an 82% discount – an actual recent offer – resulted in a discounted ticket price of just £199. This puts cruising within reach of most of us, provided we can travel at short notice.
You also have the benefit of being able to spend more when you are on the cruise itself. This could mean spending more on luxury treatments in an on board spa perhaps, or alternatively you can spend more on goodies to bring home when you disembark at one of the stops you make on the way. In short, last minute cruise deals could offer you the holiday of a lifetime.
